THE TAKEDA FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES A CALL FOR RESEARCH PROPOSALS FOR ITS 2002 GRANT PROGRAM - The Takeda Techno-Entrepreneurship Award Supports R&D Activities Which Will Lead to a Practical Application or Commercialized Product in the Near Future - Release Date: April 8, 2002 MENLO PARK, Calif. and TOKYO, February 2002 - The Takeda Foundation, a recently established Japanese foundation which supports engineering achievement through its annual awards, grant program and scholarships, has announced a call for research proposals for the second annual Takeda Techno-Entrepreneurship Award. The Takeda Techno-Entrepreneurship Award provides research and development (R&D) grants to researchers who are creating and applying new engineering knowledge that will generate substantial value for people. These R&D grants will be awarded to individual researchers, or groups of researchers, in three fields: information/electronics, the life sciences, and the environment. Two R&D grants will be awarded in each of the three application fields. The monetary value for each of the six awards will be a maximum of 10 million yen (approximately US$80,000) per year for up to three years. This year the Foundation is accepting research proposals in the following six subject areas: Session A: Nanoscale Measurement Technology/Systems Research proposals will be accepted from April 1st until May 31st, 2002. The Award is open to individuals of all nationalities and all organizational affiliations (e.g. company, university, or independent).
