Based on the philosophy noted above, the Takeda Foundation's objective
is to conduct activities which present awards and grants for significant
successes by techno-entrepreneurs in the following three fields. |
|
1. |
Techno-Entrepreneurial Achievements for Social/Economic Well-being |
2. |
Techno-Entrepreneurial Achievements for Individual/Humanity Well-being
(Life sciences) |
3. |
Techno-Entrepreneurial Achievements for World Environmental Well-being |
|
|
These three fields refer to technical areas in which applications of engineering
intellect/knowledge have been clearly demonstrated. In other words, the
Foundation has established and categorized these fields from the standpoint
of "which fields have succeeded in providing well-being to the people?"
The Takeda Foundation has not adopted a method of categorization based
on which component technologies have been applied; for example, electronic
engineering, chemical engineering, or medical engineering. This is because
our goal is to reflect the ultimate application of these fields. The fundamental
stance of the Foundation is to focus on applications which provide value
to people.
In selecting these three fields, we have maintained a strong awareness
of the changes that have occurred in industry and science - changes being
felt at the beginning of the 21st century. The following indicate some
of the main characteristics of these changes. |
|
(1) |
Information processing has been tied into communications, and information/communication
networks have begun to play a critical role in lifestyle/industrial infrastructure. |
(2) |
Knowledge and information in the field of life sciences are playing an
increasingly important role in achieving prosperity and the reduction of
pain and suffering. |
(3) |
It has become necessary to maintain a strong awareness of the effects of
human activities on the global environment. |
